A worn out spark plug is a commonly faced problem by the car owners. Sometimes it happens that car just refuses to start due to wearing out of spark plug completely. In that condition, the spark plug is needed to be replaced by a new one. A spark plug can be replaced at home if you follow the below given instructions carefully. Also, if you are not very much into these repairing and replacing thing that you can take help of a skilled mechanic for the same. 1) Taking help of repair manual always fall essential in the replacement of the components like spark plug. Otherwise, starting off anything haphazardly, you might end up creating an even bigger fault instead of replacing the spark plug.
2) Before starting the process, make sure that the engine is cool and ignition is off. Keep in mind that working on spark plug while the engine is still hot, can cause series burns on any part of your body.
3) Choose a single spark plug to change at a time. For taking off the spark plug wire, grab it from the bottom instead of pulling the wire from top.
4) Clean the dust or oil gathering on or around the spark plug, if any. Remember that the oil inside the spark plug hole should not be wiped from there.
5) You will need the tools like 5/8 deep socket, swivel joint and an extension for taking out the plug. You have to turn the plug to its left with the help of these tools to loosen it up.
6) Now, replace the old plug with the new one. You need to turn the new plug to its tight for tightening it.
7) While connecting the spark plug wire make sure that it shouldn’t off.
8 ) Repeat the same process with the other spark and replace it.
