Repairing Car Key Scratches

Sometimes an unintentional run-over of the car key on the body of the car leaves behind an ugly scratch on the car’s body. In most of the cases, you don’t need to do a new paint job for removing these scratches. In order to figure-out the extant of the damage caused to car body paint by this scratch, you need to do a short analysis of the affected area. Here are few instructions for analyzing and repairing these types of scratches.
Removing Surface Scratches: –

1) The key scratch on your car’s body is very light if you can’t feet it through running your finger on it.
2) Clean the affected area by using a proper water soap solution and thoroughly rinse it. Dry the area by using a micro fiber rag.
3) Now, take light cut pad of your oscillating polisher’s disc. Now run the polisher along the length of this scratch, very gently. Run the polisher until it completely removes the scratches.
Removing Light Scratches:-
1) If you can feel the scratch through running your finger nail on it, the scratch is light one and will need a bit more effort to mend it.
2) First clean the area with the help of soap and water and rinse it thoroughly with water. Dry the area with a micro fiber rag.
3) Now, take heavy cut pad of your oscillating polisher’s disc and put an small  amount of light cut compound on the pad. Now, take the foam polishing pad on your oscillating polisher and Finish with it.
4) Now take polishing compound on the pad and run it through the affected area until scratch disappears completely.
Removing Deep Scratches: – For mending these marks, you need to do a light paint touch-up on the affected area. Buy touch-up paint as per the make and model of your car. The paint should be exactly in matching with the shed and metallic look of your cars body. Follow the instructions provided in the car paint touch-up manual.
