Removing Rust from A Car Door

When the car door comes in contact with water, salt and road grim collect, the rust starts surfacing on its exposed metal due to the reaction of oxidation. Rust present on your car’s body not only proves a road-presence spoiler for your car but also poses a danger of growing from a small spot to whole car body. The rust generally starts developing on metal exposed through scratches on car’s body. The immediate removal of rust ensures that it will not spread to other parts of the car. Here are few easy tips for removing rust from a car door.
1)First try to remove the rust with the help of 100-grit sandpaper. Keep sanding the rusted surface till you can see the bare surface.
2)Now use 120-grit sandpaper for removing the paint on the area around the rust.
3)Take 150-grit sandpaper and gently send the affected area until the metal gets smooth.
4)Now isolate the area that you are going to paint by covering all other near by portions of the car’s body by tapping news on it.
5)For initial painting process, apply three coats of car primer on the affected area. Remember, there should be a gap of about 10 minutes in the application each coat of primer. After applying primer, leave the car for drying for at least 24 hours.
6)Now give the area a light coat of automotive touch-up paint. Apply enough coats of the car paint so that the premier can be made completely invisible. Remember, the paint you are using should be exactly in matching with your car’s body paint.
