Firstly, read the owner’s manual as it covers all the information related to maintenance and up-keeping of various parts of your car. Even your car’s air conditioner has several parts and each needs to be properly taken care off such as – compressor, evaporator, hoses and belts because with time they eventually wear-out. Replacing the part as per schedule is really necessary according to manufacturer’s recommendation so that they do not collapse all of a sudden. So keep an eye at first sign of wear to keep your air conditioner cooling perfect at all times.
Timely servicing is required, so let the mechanic check the air conditioner especially before summers approach. During the complete inspection make sure that the compressor drive belt is checked out thoroughly and its tension adjusted. Also see that the level of refrigerant is checked and replaced if required. Even, the hoses need to be inspected for any leaks, cracks or hardening.
