Statistics shows that road accidents are one of the major causes of death today. However accidents, by nature, are inevitable, there is at least something you can do to prevent their occurrence. Below are some safe driving tips which could prevent accidents from happening.
1.The first rule is simple: don’t drive too fast than you are comfortable with!
2.Always obey traffic signals and rules. This includes do not jump the red light, never drink and drive and wearing a seat belt at all times.
3.Do not change lane suddenly while driving. Give the correct indication to your fellow drivers in order to let them know that you want to take a turn or change lane.
4.Keep optimum distance from the vehicles ahead when you are driving at high speed as this will allow you to stop in time if urgent braking is required.
5.Do not allow any interruptions like using mobile phone, listening to high volume music and talking to fellow passengers.
6.Drive slowly during rain and foggy conditions. Turn on wipers along with headlights whenever it starts raining.
7.While driving on the highway, make sure you keep proper distance from heavy vehicles as they might not be able to stop suddenly.
8.Do not overtake other vehicles unless you are absolutely sure you can do so without harming yourself or others. Don’t speed past a bus which has just stopped to depart passengers as people trying to cross the road will be blinded due to the static vehicle.
9.Take adequate rest while going for long drive to prevent exhaustion and fatigue.
10.Shift into first gear and use the emergency break when you park your car. Shift into reverse if you are parking on a downward slant.
If these tips are kept in mind when you taking your vehicle out chances are there that you will reach home safe and sound to be with your loved ones.
